The warm weather is peaking in a lot of places around the world, and when that happens it’s time to do something.
If you answered with things like
I envy you. I do. This is the time of year, for me, when you can give your blog an overhaul. Lets face it, everyone dreams of the ideal vacation but we all ending up sitting on the computer. Since most people are browsing in their downtime, they look closer at your layout. That’s why it’s a good time to clean things up. Blog cleaning and adjusted is a great part of any marketing campaign – after all you want to put your best foot forward to people landing on your content.
You don’t need to dump a hundreds of dollars into a new design, and you don’t have to spend hours doing it. Here are a few ways you can give your blog a little “refresh project” of your own.
1. Clean up your sidebar.
Take the time to rip down old images or ads. Look into the old blogroll and see what kind of links you’re showing. Do they still add value? Do they work? Rotate links, get some new references and resources for your readers listed in the sidebar and try to rotate your images. Find ways to make your sidebar more useful to your readers and you could dramatically improve traffic as people recommend you for the resources you offer. Your blog is like an ambassador in your marketing campaign – give the sidebar due attention.
2. Speaking of links
To echo what I already said, because it’s important to your own credibility – make sure the links that you’re sharing actually work. Likewise, ensure that they’re still pointing someone that is relevant and provide a lot of value. Time to fix what’s broke.
3. Add plugins or add-ons.
You can do a lot to boost the performance and appearance of your blog, including the engagement level, my plunking in a few plugins or add-ons that enhance the user experience. Modern plugins are also making content sharing easier so you could inadvertently improve your own presence on the web my simplifying the user experience, thus reinforcing your content marketing campaign.
4. Invite a guest blogger.
You can show the community that you’re open to more perspectives other than your own by inviting people to guest post on your blog. This is a great way to generate interest, can save you from having to produce blog content, and can help you build relationships with other respected bloggers.
5. Get social
If you haven’t started integrating your blog with other social networks that its time to start. Get links to your various social networking profiles on your blog. You can start building relationships with your readers in this manner, thus creating a more devout following for your blog. You can also use these social networks to promote the content you’re producing in your blog.
If you’re still having issues making your blog stand for something fun, interesting and exciting there’s always the other option…
