If you’re an individual or organization that’s not well versed in search engine optimization, it’s a good idea to just take the initial financial jump and work with SEO specialists that provide professional services. Unfortunately once the popularity of SEO began to rise, “specialists” popped up all over the net, offering a lot of cookie cutter services – some good and some bad.
The appropriate research will help you find ethical and respectful SEO specialists to work with. Trying to opt for one without any clear knowledge of the services being offered is a good way to end up in bed with a questionable optimization firm that doesn’t really have your best interests in mind.
You really don’t want to hear how a company can get your website listed on Google in just a few short days. To make such claims is faulty, and it’s rather impossible to get to that point quickly – at least with white hat methods. A firm advertising that they can do so is not likely to be trustworthy.
Don’t misunderstand me – it’s acceptable for someone to tell you that they can dramatically improve your rankings. That much is rather easy. It just depends on the keyword, the work being done and the amount of time. For the best results, expect something a bit more long term. If someone is guaranteeing you a page 1 rank – then you should start questioning their authenticity. There are simply too many variables involved in determining rank for SEO specialists to be attempting to control the rank.
You also want to shut your ears to anyone who even remotely notes that black hat methods could be beneficial to your business. They may be beneficial in the short term but in the long term they could do more harm than good. That kind of search engine optimization is a gamble, and businesses shouldn’t gamble with their brand or presence online.
There are no black hat methods that are beneficial to organizations or business owners, as they typically results in penalties from Google that could lead to a complete blacklist of your existing domain. For an established company online, this can mean utter business failure or a forced reset where a new domain is required – with no pagerank or established links.
No self-respecting SEO specialist is ever going to recommend black hat techniques to a client seeking optimization services.
Lastly, you don’t want to or need to hear that the quality of your campaign will be determined by your budget. Every company is different, and every campaign is different. That means a different approach all around. While some many need a massive push to gain traction, others don’t require much work at all to get them ranking in the right areas. Just because a business doesn’t have a massive budget doesn’t mean they cannot enjoy the fruits of a strategically planned search engine optimization campaign.
If a company starts dropping off large dollar amounts without getting into the details of your website, optimizations and needs then it’s probably a good idea to move along and find someone else.
Like any other businesses, individuals need to be protective of their money and the businesses they run – when an shoddy SEO agency is tampering with their optimization, they’re tampering with their income source.
