LinkedIn and Twitter – Bout time they got it on.

Since the time when LinkedIn revealed its app programming interface (API), new enhancements for social media have regularly been created to reinforce that already strong and growing network.  One of the partnerships that becoming increasingly popular (to no surprise) is Twitter and LinkedIn.  Considering the growing popularity of B2B marketing online through common social media networks, its no wonder that this collaboration is doing well for so many people.

Twitter Feed

In regards to integration, the two are doing an amazing job getting their systems blended well with API.  Most users are acutely aware of their ability to link profiles and the result has been a steady stream of posts that keep profile viewers on both sides up to date of the latest occurrences in the B2B market.

Tweet & Post Control

This isn’t just a live stream either thankfully.  Aside from being able to join accounts, users have the ability to select which of their tweets will appear on their LinkedIn page.  Filtering tweets is an excellent method for categorizing and controlling the display of personal vs business tweets.

On the flip side, users can also decide what updates they share on Twitter from LinkedIn.

Company Buzz & Tweet Apps

Company buzz lets you track tweets by and about specific companies, products, services, people etc from your LinkedIn page.  It also offers information on data and trending which, if you’re keeping tabs on competition, is a great way to stay on top of metrics.

The tweet app is similar to having a build in version of Twitter on your LinkedIn.  You’ll be able to tweet right from your LinkedIn profile instead of having to go and log into Twitter.

Integration Keeps Growing

By installing the tweets app, LinkedIn users will be able to more quickly find other professionals and follow them.  This will also aid in keeping track of leads and connections through both LinkedIn and Twitter.

The other new module “connections to follow” will actually recommend new follower suggestions based on who you know in LinkedIn.  Additional info is available on who you and are not following within your network so that you can stay up to date with your Twitter following and networking.

These are all great tools and tricks for any user that gets their hands into both Twitter and LinkedIn but one of the most appreciated and popular features is the ability to save LinkedIn connections as a dynamic list from Twitter.  LinkedIn will keep the list up to date for you and can add and remove accounts based on your LinkedIn connections.

People have long grumbled about the use of Twitter being primarily for B2C and that LinkedIn is the only major B2B social network.  This integration will mesh the two and hopefully people will begin to see that Twitter is equally strong in helping people maintain B2B relationships.
