Blog Marketing 911

While I considered some kind of clever yet cliche “blogging 101” title, I felt the 911 was necessary because I’ve come across a staggering number of people who think blogging is irrelevant.

Really?

I pray that as you begin reading this, you’re not the type of person who thinks that blogs are a passing fad.  Perhaps you’re grouped with the number of people who believe that blogs are juvenile, or only developed by egocentric, underemployed journalists who like to “hear themselves talk

I love blogs because they smell like money.

My biggest fear is that people suffer from a misconception that blogs aren’t at all part of social media, and therefore can do little in aiding the marketing campaign of a business.  Nay Nay, I say.  Blogs are their own unique breed of social platform and are so unbelievably beneficial in not only growing your business, but branding yourself as well.

Blogs are so magnificently SEO friendly and play a huge part in building regular links to your site.  This is certainly true if you’re hosting your own blog on your domain instead of a free service filed under the dreaded  ‘nofollow‘ pile of google-poo that the search engines turn their nose up at.

With the large number of plug-ins that make SEO easy, you can quickly optimize each page and post of your blog without manually editing HTML for content and meta information.  Blah, right?

Each time you make a post, the content management system makes it easy for you to plug links into your content so every post turns into a magnet for search engine indexing with links that point back to the landing pages on your site.

Speaking of posting, every single post you make is considered a page.  The more posts you make, the more pages you have.  The more pages you have, the greater your chances of being indexed and listed in the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs) for the relevant content you’ve got on each page.  And with links on your site to each page, each post/page becomes a single back link to your landing pages.  Increased back links = Google love.

Bowchicawowwow.

I hate reusing the same old tired cliché of “content is king” but I’ve yet to come up with something better.  The last attempt left me with “stop writing stupid content that doesn’t sell“.  Not very inspiring.

Content holds a title spot on the Web with search engines.  By its own natural design, blogs are all about content.  Thus it stands to reason that search engines love content-rich blogs.  Of course, in order for it to benefit you, you’ve got to seduce the algorithm.  Googles backend guys, the ones who break kneecaps for black hat SEO, have outwardly admitted that it takes more than quirky keywords and their placement to gain position in the SERPs.

It’s about the content that wraps around those keywords as well.  Mix the right keywords with decent writing that covers informative, entertaining content and you’re another step closer to improving your ranking and traffic.

If you intend on using a blog to leverage the oomf of social media, promote your business, brand yourself, change the world, and reinvent the wheel then you can ‘t just create a wordpress blog, throw up a few posts every week and call it good.

Not everyone can paint a masterpiece, and not everyone can manage a blog.  If you do the minimum, you get minimalistic response.

In order to be effective, your new social media integration has to be updated with fresh and relevant content that pertains to your business model, market, niche, product, service and most importantly – your readers.  Since you often want those readers to become customers, it’s probably a good idea to offer entertaining, inspiring, fun, valuable content that will keep them coming back.

Now, unless you are a guru at managing your time and have scads of time to waste, then you have to question whether or not a blog is a good idea.  I’m sure some of you have been down this road, where you have absolutely no idea how to get started, what to write, how to write it or where you’d find the time to update it.  Thankfully, in situations like this, there are professional blog services and copywriters out there that will actually manage your blog for you and your business in order to help you brand yourself and market your business properly.

Where are they you ask?  Well that’s quite simple.  Here are just a few places to pick up professional bloggers

Or you could opt in to hiring a professional website copywriting service to tackle your blog management.  Many copywriting services offer blog marketing packages for completed management of the blog from writing content to handling seo plugin, posting, photos, linking and social media integration.

The focus here is that it is extremely beneficial to make blogging a part of your marketing campaign.  It’s a great mix between link building and article marketing that lets you direct readers to your site while quickly delivering valuable information.

If that hasn’t convinced you that your company should have some kind of blog marketing service, then I am inclined to point back and quote myself from earlier in this article.
